7 Important things you must know about E Aadhar card download

1. Fill out the correct information

First and the foremost thing that you need to keep in mind is filling the correct information about yourself while enrollment, or you’ll have to face lots of difficulties afterwards. Be it your name, father name, address or DOB, each information inserted should be just perfect. Any kind of false information entered will be considered an offence and the Aadhar card will be placed under the fake category. 2. Provide your correct mobile

3. Keep your mobile with you while downloading E- Aadhar card

As discussed above, you need to have a mobile number registered on your aadhar card profile. Now, you also need to keep it with you while downloading E Aadhar card. Reason being, you’ll receive an OTP while logging in the website. If you don’t remember your EID, UID, or Aadhar card number, this is not an issue. But if you don’t remember your mobile number also, this will trouble you here. You should know at least one of these details. Though, you can also check which mobile number is registered with Aadhar, on the official website of UIDAI.

Follow the following steps to know which mobile is registered with your Aadhar
  1. Go to Aadhar services menu.
  2. Enter the 12 digit Aadhar number
  3. Now, enter the security code as given in the image
  4. Click on verify
In the end, you will see your Aadhar verification status along with the mobile number (last 3 digits). Now, after seeing the last 3 digits you can easily guess which of your mobile number is linked to Aadhar card. In case, you haven’t registered any, an error will display that no mobile number is linked.

4. Consistently keep checking the status of your e Aadhar card

E-Aadhar is nothing but a digital form of physical Aadhaar card. Since the hard copy of Aadhaar card is delivered to your residential address and this takes some months from the date it is issued. UIDAI makes E- Aadhaar (a soft copy of Aadhaar) available for download as soon as the applicant’s verification of data is complete and the Unique Identity number (UID) is generated. For the same purpose, you need to check the status of your E-Aadhar card consistently to know its availability online.

Follow the steps to check the status of E- Aadhar card  
  1. Go to the UIDAI website.
  2. In the Aadhaar enrollment section, you’ll get an option “Check Aadhaar Status”. Click on this link.
  3. Fill your 12 digit EID number issued at the time of enrollment
  4. Fill the Date/Time (mention as dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss as given on the enrolment slip).
  5. Enter the security code as displayed in the image
  6. Finally, you can check the status of your E- Aadhar card.

5. You should know your Enrollment ID or UID

As discussed above, to download your E- Aadhar card, you must have proper details with you which you provided and received at the time of enrollment. Most importantly, you need to have your enrollment ID saved with you. In case, if you are updating your Aadhar details, you can fill the Aadhar card number here which you are having already. But, if in case you have misplaced your Aadhaar card and Enrollment ID and do not even remember the Aadhar number, here’s what you need to do now:

How to Retrieve your Lost EID/UID
  1. Click the link to UIDAI It will take you to the correct page where you can retrieve your lost EID/UID number.
  2. Enter your full name as mentioned in Aadhaar
  3. Now either type in your email or mobile to get the OTP. (Note: It should be registered with your Aadhaar)
  4. Now, Enter the Security code, same as you see in the image.
  5. Click on send OTP.
  6. You’ll receive the OTP. Enter the OTP in the Right corner box.
  7. Select verify OTP.
  8. Now you’ll receive a pop-up message on screen "Congratulation! Your Aadhaar Number (UID) is sent to your Mobile."
  9. Finally, check your mobile/email to access the Aadhar number for further e-Aadhar download process.

6. How to download e-Aadhar card

Now, we know you have everything ready with you and you are about to download your E- Aadhaar successfully. Just follow the below steps and it will be a cakewalk for you.

How to download E-Aadhar card via Aadhar/Enrollment ID/VID
  1. Go to the UIDAI website.
  2. In the Aadhaar enrollment section, you’ll get an option “Download Aadhaar”. Click on this link.
  3. A new portal will open asking some details like what document you have at present
  4. Make sure you have one of these three: Aadhaar No (UID)/ Enrollment ID (EID)/ Virtual ID (VID). Select the option you have with you.
  5. Enter the Number
  6. Type in your full name, as printed on the Aadhaar card/ Enrollment ID.
  7. Type your residential area pin code you mentioned while enrollment.
  8. Now enter the security captcha code as you see in the image.
  9. Now, either select the option if you have TOTP or leave it if and request for the OTP. Click Get OTP.
  10. A one-time password will be sent to your email address or phone number, you entered in the form.
  11. Enter this password in the box and click Verify OTP.
  12. Now, your file is ready to download.

7. What is the password to open an e-Aadhaar card pdf file?
